outdoor recreation

Maine Coastal Program, Augusta, ME.  2012, 2014 to present.
I produced maps for the Program’s Coastal Access Guide, a comprehensive listing of access points for the entire Maine coast, and am currently following up with creation of a database of related parcel boundaries.

Portland Paddle, Portland, ME.  2013 to present.
Portland Paddle is a new kayak tour and rental company operating at the East End Beach in Portland.  I co-own the business with my friend and business partner Zack Anchors.  We’re dedicated to the idea that quality outdoor experiences lead to responsible stewardship.

Maine Island Trail Association, Portland, ME.  2013.
I assisted in the planning of three events for MITA – their annual Paddling Film Festival & Silent Auction (in partnership with the Northern Forest Canoe Trail), Portland Greendrinks, and their 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Maine Woods Discovery, Farmington, ME.  2012-2013.
As coordinator of the MWD blog, I worked with non-profit and for-profit partner organizations to research and write promotional blog posts, create extensive content for the MWD website, administer the MWD Facebook page, and otherwise engage in effective online marketing.

Paddling with the NFCT

Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Waitsfield, VT.  2010-2012.
I’ve worked with the NFCT as both an intern and a consultant – assisting with event planning, grant writing, and other administrative tasks; contributing to the development and maintenance of the Trail’s GIS system; creating a database of landowner information; and supervising interns as they collect GPS data.

Granite State Lumberjack Shows, Lee, NH.  1999-2010.
GSLS is the ‘family business,’ managing the Stihl Timbersports series of professional lumberjack competitions.  I’ve worked as video timing system operator for pro events and head scorer for collegiate events, and I’ve pioneered a wood waste recycling program for the series.
